Yes this happened to me. I received a C out of one of my masters classes. The first class of the program. My gpa was a 2.0. The department told me I needed to repeat the class in order to bring my gpa to a 3.0. In my mind that means I needed an A out of the class. However, I received a B and thought I would be put out of the program. I didn't realized the department would "drop off" the previous attempt of the class. I was given my goal, but not the way I thought I would get it.
